Relay for Life went well - we are almost to our $1000 mark for our first year! We are doing comfort pillow projects with small groups this summer: the Stein Hospice Camp Good Grief and the Center for Cultural Awareness' Youth Enrichment Empowerment Program. Come see us on Thursday evenings at the Concerts in the Park!

The next Comfort Pillow Workshop will be held on Monday, August 18th at 6 p.m. in the Memorial Lounge of the church. There will also be a daytime Workshop on Wednesday, August 20th at 10:00 a.m. Please use the door on Washington Street (across from the Merry Go Round museum) to enter. We hope to see lots of you there!

Comfort Pillow Project –
The Comfort Pillow outreach program was inspired by a children’s sermon by Sunday sc
hool teacher Lynn Hunsicker. The pillows are more than fabric and stuffing; they are a loving reminder of God’s infinite love, constant companionship and tender comfort for the afflicted and needy.
The Comfort Pillow outreach program was inspired by a children’s sermon by Sunday sc
hool teacher Lynn Hunsicker. The pillows are more than fabric and stuffing; they are a loving reminder of God’s infinite love, constant companionship and tender comfort for the afflicted and needy. The pillows soon became so much more than a children’s moment – the Comfort Pillow outreach program is now an integral mission of First Presbyterian Church, connecting members of all ages and community residents who live in Erie County and beyond. The pillows have been shared with Stein Hospice of North Central Ohio, Cancer Services of Erie County, North Ohio Cancer Center, the Cleveland Clinic, Sandusky Police and Fire Department. During a recent event for Cancer Services of Erie County, over 250 pillows were di
stributed to patients and supporters. It is our hope to become more involved with community events and make sure that pillows are available to those in need. After buying and cutting fabric, parishioners let their imaginations soar as they prayerfully tie the two materials together. Assembling the pillows is a church community event with members volunteering their time to make the pillows while sharing anecdotes about how they touched someone in need.
Coupled with an original poem, the First Presbyterian Church Comfort Pillows remind people – during times of crisis or need – that God and God’s people in Sandusky, Ohio are with them and thinking about them.
